Tell us about yourself.

As a child of two artist I’ve always been surrounded by incredible amount of artistic materials, paintings, sculptures, artists, museum visits and conversations about art or how it feels like to be an artist. All these things were very natural to me. As a little girl I thought everyone has a studio in their houses. And then I stumbled upon clay and stayed happy here ever since.

What is your process of creation ?

I have always seen my work as something very intuitive. The more I try to force somethings the more it keeps losing the purity of expression. My crafting process is usually torn between sudden impulses and rational examinations. I usually get the best ideas at random times, I never or very rarely sketch before creating. I have a luxury of living across the street from my studio which provides me with an option of turning my ideas into reality in matter of moments.

Where do you find inspiration ?

In my creative process finding the right correspondence between shapes and colors holds a great amount of significance. Once my objects are finished, cooled down in the kiln, my biggest creative joy takes place: stacking ceramics on the floor of my studio, finding how different forms speak to one another, how sometimes adding a bit of bright color makes a world of difference. Taking photos of my work is a very important part of my creative process. It reminds me of painting in a way.

Where can we see your work ?

My work can be seen in my studio in Ljubljana, in the past two years I’ve been lucky enough to have my ceramics featured in few stores from around the world. Virtually you can find my most updated work on my Instagram profile and website.

How can we join one of your workshop ?

I teach four handbuilt workshops a month, mostly at my studio in my lovely street in the middle of Ljubljana, but we sometimes take them out and about in beautiful Slovenian villages. You can apply via my website, but I advise you to hurry up because the space is limited as we’re trying to maintain a bit more intimate atmosphere therefore workshops tend to fill up quick.

What do you think of Collection Latil ?

I think it’s a beautifully curated selection of contemporary creatives paired with inspiring texts and photos.

What are your projects for the future ?

It’s so hard for me to plan this far ahead. I want to actively grow, develop, expand, but maintain a certain amount of freedom. This medium has already offered me countless new possibilities, I’m sure it’s going to offer some more in the future.
